Need New Kitchen Equipment? Ask Yourself These 10 Questions First

At Aldevra, we receive many requests like “I need a new refrigerator” or “I need a steamer for my kitchen.” But to truly help you find the right piece of foodservice equipment—especially for an existing kitchen—we need more than just the item name.

Whether you're replacing old equipment or adding something new, here are 10 questions to consider before requesting a quote or placing an order:

  1. What is the intended use?
    • Be specific. Is this refrigerator for prep, storage, or display? Will it be used for raw proteins, dairy, produce, or grab-and-go items?
  2. What are the exact dimensions of the available space?
    • Measure width, depth, and height—especially if it’s going in a tight space, under a counter, or through a narrow doorway. Don't forget to check ceiling clearance, doorway access, and turning radius.
  3. Is there a brand or model you’re replacing?
    • Knowing the current unit’s model and serial number helps us cross-reference specs and possibly recommend a direct replacement or better alternative.
  4. What are the utility requirements?
    • Gas or electric? What voltage and phase? Do you have a water line or drain nearby? This avoids costly surprises during install.
  5. How will it be used day-to-day?
    • High-volume operations need durable, commercial-grade equipment. Tell us about your usage—how often it runs, how many meals you serve, and how many team members will operate it.
  6. Is it part of a line-up or standalone?
    • Some equipment needs to match the height and depth of adjacent units or tables. Aesthetics and compatibility matter—especially in tight cooklines.
  7. Do you have ventilation or clearance requirements?
    • Some equipment needs space to breathe. Others require hoods or specific clearance from walls. Let us know what's around it.
  8. What are your installation limitations?
    • Can we deliver and install during business hours? Will staff be available to receive? Are there loading dock, elevator, or union rules? Knowing this upfront helps us coordinate the install efficiently.
  9. Do you need accessories or extras?
    • Casters for cleaning? Extra shelves? Water filters? Backup parts? Tell us now so we can include it all in one quote.
  10. What’s your timeline and budget?
    • Are you in a rush because of equipment failure, or planning ahead? Do you have a specific budget range? This helps us recommend the best value options.

Bottom Line:

The more details you provide, the faster and more accurately we can support you.

Have answers to some of these questions? Great—send us a message. Not sure where to start? We’re happy to help walk through your kitchen setup and make expert recommendations.

Let’s get it done—right the first time.
